Saturday's Post*

The first thing I noticed when I stepped into the garden on Saturday morning was that lovely smell that warm plants give off. It was evocative of long lazy summer days. "What?" I hear you gasp. "Equinox was four days ago and you're thinking of summer already?" Well, yes I am, thanks to those warm plants. Welcome to my world. *grin*

Concord Dawn rocked out Friday night at Sandwiches. They played a -lot- of new stuff. Drum 'n' bass isn't everyone's cup of tea, and often it's not mine either, but these guys just do it. They are so prolific, it beats me how they keep coming up with original stuff, but they do and it's good. They didn't start till 3.30am and prior to that was a female MC who played good music, but wouldn't just shut the f**k up and let it play. She kept yelling "Are you ready?" Well, yes, I thought - ready to launch myself up there and throttle you. Night was made by running into probably the only other rock climber there and organising to do a trip to the Head. Good stuff. Funny stuff - comment from said climber - "I hope I'm still out there doing it when I'm your age." He was all of 28. *giggle*

OK, on to business. Fish and chips. Kilbirnie FnC to be precise. Thank you for the recommendation, fuckmuppet

Cost: $3.60
Fish: Excellent. Fresh, tender, well cooked.
Chips: Crinkle-cut but fat, like Aro ones. Really nice. Passed the Ex-McDonalds Worker Test of Perfection.
Cooked in: Fat (sorry Dylan).
Comment: Go! Go now! No, drop everything and go. These guys are good. Fast (<5mins), friendly, good sized portions. They are worth going out of your way for. One small thing - not enough salt.
Rating: 9.5/10

And, inspirational song du jour:

Where were you when I was burned and broken
While the days slipped by from my window watching?
Where were you when I was hurt and I was helpless
Because the things you say and the things you do surround me?
While you were hanging yourself on someone else's words
Dying to believe in what you heard
I was staring straight into the shining sun.

Lost in thought and lost in time
While the seeds of life and the seeds of change were planted.
Outside the rain fell dark and slow
While I pondered on this dangerous but irresistible pastime.
I took a heavenly ride through our silence
I knew the moment had arrived
For killing the past and coming back to life.

I took a heavenly ride through our silence
I knew the waiting had begun
And headed straight into the shining sun.

I know lots of people disagree, but for me The Division Bell is the definitive Pink Floyd album. Not to say I don't like some of the older stuff, but I'm not a big fan of Roger Waters' influence. His music fills me with angst and I don't like it. Even on The Wall, all the songs I like are Gilmour-inspired. I make no apology for this, all you diehard purists. ;-p

[EDIT] Wow! Apparently the InterWeb has miraculously started working again in the House of Zen. It has healed itself,! Behold, and be amazed! *grin*
