In which pony play has its cuter side - SFW

So the Finnish is progressing apace. I found a set of flash cards that is basically the Star Wars (the one with Luke) novel, broken into sentences. So I'm reading Star Wars, out of order, in Finnish. I am learning such useful phrases as "They've shut down the main reactor!" And "I was going to head to Toshi station to pick up some power converters." It's more useful than you think.

And no, I haven't yet come across "These are not the droids you are looking for" but when I do, you'll be the first to know.

I've also found this site - Easy News In Finnish. It's exactly what it says on the box, and has both podcasts and text. I'm focusing on the text at the moment. It takes me about half an hour to read it, but I'm now recognising enough of the words to give the other words context and glean broad meaning. I've learned about the early closure of Mt Everest, the early migration of birds to Finland, and the early ability of farmers to get out on their tractors. And also a plane crash of parachutists.

I will be going to Fidels tonight. We have another public holiday tomorrow, this time to celebrate the English using the Kiwi and Aussie soldiers as cannon fodder in Turkey in World War 1. That's how I've always experienced it, anyway. It's often a polarising and divisive thing, Anzac Day. I try to stay out of it, but I appreciate the day off just the same.

By the way, for those of you who like the monsters, they have a Facebook page here. It would totally make their day if you went and liked them over there. ;-)
