deal with it

I remember when he couldn't even walk. Shit.

In a conversation the other day, it was suggested that I read some of the graphic novels and other lore-vehicles related to DA. I've managed so far without doing so but I have read Asunder and I have a couple of theories that I wouldn't mind filling in, so I went to have a look at the series by Orson Scott Card et al. Suffice to say they won't be getting my money. Click 'Look inside' and on the first page you get some templars training, where one accuses the other of fighting like a girl, and the other being all *hackslash* "Could a girl have sliced you in three?"

To which I go "Fuck you Card, you just alienated me completely and I'm not reading your crap." I have standards. And it blows me away that the DA franchise that does so well at not being sexist the way many other games are, allowed that to slip through. WUT.

What is spaetzle and why do you need a maker for one?

In other news, the gunk dried faster than expected and I was able to do some sanding last night. I expect to do more sanding tonight, then a final smoothing coat of other gunk, then I'll be able to start painting. This makes me happy. It might even resemble what it's supposed to by the end of the weekend. Gosh.

Finally, the YoT got his learner's licence yesterday. In NZ you have three stages of licence - learner's which is based on knowledge of theory and allows you to learn to drive with a fully licenced person in the car, restricted which you can get after 6 months and allows you to drive alone in certain circumstances, then the full licence after another 18 months. The next step for the YoT is learning to drive. The plan being that he gets lessons with an instructor till he's going, then he drives me to all my shearing appointments this summer, by the end of which he should have experience in a variety of situations. And I will have lots of grey hair no doubt, and be proficient with my imaginary brake pedal.

My Mum taught me to drive, but that was in the wop wops and I'm not brave enough to attempt to teach the YoT in the middle of a city - someone else can have that fun I reckon.

Also Thane = puppy eyes. You can just tell he's going to be emo.
