Dropa Kulcha

As it turns out, I did not in fact OVERLOCK ALL THE THINGS yesterday. In the end I only overlocked some of the things, after deciding that since it was such a beautiful day I would walk* to Spotlight to get my overlocking thread. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Spotlight, it's a large chain selling fabric, haberdashery, and craft stuff. If you're into making, it's a veritable black hole/treasure trove and I don't think I've ever come out of there with just the thing I went in for. Yesterday I came out with fabric for several skirts and dresses I have that I'd like to recreate before they fall apart, elastic, thread, sewing machine needles, and a roll of newsprint for pattern making. It'd been a while.

On Friday we went to see these guys doing this. Yes, a baroque orchestra performing music from the time of Galileo, interspersed with readings from journals and letters and stuff from his life, against a backdrop of scenes made possible by the discoveries of Galileo. Fuck yeah Galileo!

It was cool. I'm not normally into baroque music but the musicians were obviously enjoying themselves and the narration kept it interesting. Also, there were violas. I couldn't tell if they were being insouciant or not because (confession time) I can't tell a viola from a violin. However, I now consider myself cultured. Nyah.

* Spotlight is about 2.5 miles from my house. Normally I'd skate there but it was really windy and I couldn't be bothered with the battle it'd entail.
