On the creation of beautiful things

So yesterday I asked "What on earth can I make with X amount of wool?" The lovely khaybee suggested that a knee blanket might be a good idea because the size is flexible so just going till the wool runs out is feasible - and then I'll have some idea of how big a thing I can make with X amount of wool.

And then helianthas came along and linked me to a pattern for just such a blanket, with a simple design that will still look more fancy than just plain knitting. I consulted the Intarwebz and learned how to cast on (130 stitches OMG! Complete with The Kid going "29 ... 65 ... 42 ... 12" while I was counting), and away I went. 10 rows later, pombagira showed up and demonstrated a more efficient way of holding the needles that reduces the movement and also the Wrist-Cocking Action that could end up hurting after a while.

I want a loom. I don't know how to weave, but how hard can it be, right?
