A woolly tale

My Mum was into spinning, in quite a big way. She taught me to spin when I was a pre-teenager, and I haven't done it since then. But Mum had two wheels and when she died she left a half-completed project on one of them. The other wheel is apparently state-of-the art spinning wheel tech, what with its two treadles and its gearing ratio for high speed spinning. It's altogether too whizzy for my level of competence, and my decision to try and complete Mum's project, and thus to keep a wheel, resulted in me keeping the more traditional one and listing the flash one on TradeMe. Little did I know how popular these wheels are.

It's Friday. Tomorrow there's a bouldering trip to Baring Head with teenagers from The Kid's school. I am excited and scared at the same time.
