In which I take pride in my deviant status

Last night's dinner with pombagira, rivet, vernacularity and xhile was Teh Orsome. pombagira makes one mean pumpkin soup, and rivet's cornbread is crunchy heaven on a plate - if you ever get the chance to try this combo, you'd be a mug to turn it down.

Also, rivet showed me a new game. I'm not sure what it's called, but those of you who've done study - you know the way essays, theses and the like have titles that are in two parts, the bit before the colon and the bit after? Like this: "Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash: Piracy, Sexuality, and Masculine Identity" (by the way, this is a real book, I found it on google scholar).

So, the game goes - one person says a phrase, and that's the bit before the colon. The next person has to come up with the bit after the colon, based on the first phrase. Geek Fun! That makes your hurty bits go hurty!

So anyway, Fidels tonight as usual for me. On Sunday I'm going to a talk on entheogenic plants. I'm quite looking forward to this, partly because of the topic, but I'm also keen to find out who else is interested, in the interests of a little networking, and perhaps feeling a little less.. well, deviant.

Of course, if all the deviants united, then we'd become the norm (which, in my group of friends, is true anyway). Would we then become less interesting, or just less defined?

I blame xhile aka Philosophy Boy for that question.

Hi, me again!

To the purveyors of corporate wankspeak:

Method - a procedure, technique, or way of doing something, esp. in accordance with a definite plan.

Methodology - a set or system of methods, principles, and rules for regulating a given discipline, as in the arts or sciences.

Please get it right. Adding three syllables does not make you sound clever if you aren't using it correctly. Kthxbye.
