etard

(no subject)

I'm reading a book called Fear - A Cultural History by Joanna Bourke (wildilocks, you were after recommendations - I recommend it). The content is exactly what the title describes, only.. it's not one of those dry and tedious academic type texts that wank on in a self-important manner and attempt to make themselves inaccessible to someone who actually wants to enjoy what they read.

Yes, there are a lot of academic references, and it goes into various theories by various people, but the majority of what's in there so far has been easily readable and there are plenty of anecdotal examples for those of us who can't be bothered with theory and are more interested in the application.
