Slide, slide, twinkle, crash! Ow, by dose...

What is it with people apologising?

In our building, we have 2 lifts. Usual story - push the button, the lift comes, you get in. Except when someone's coming out. For some reason I never expect there to be anyone in there when I call the lift, so usually I'm standing right in front of the door when it opens, blocking the way out. The person on the other side is usually moving by the time the door opens. And, without fail, they say "Sorry" as I step back to let them past. Why? I was in their way. If anyone should be apologising, it should be me. But I don't think that kind of thing is apology-worthy.

Same thing when people brush past each other in a tight space. One of them almost always apologises. For what? *shrug* I think I prefer the American "Excuse me" as an acknowledgement rather than an apology.

Today is fire alarm testing day. Joy. They are blipping it on a regular basis and I'm pretty sure that if they included some bass I could dance to it.. Speaking of dancing, I'm learning to shuffle. I remember watching Fred Astaire do it in the movies Dad used to show us when I was a kid, and I've always wanted to learn. So now I am. Example here, or for the modern version, here. Tip: Do not try this in skatey shoes on asphalt.

Oh, and finally, a word to the universe: BRING IT ON! *smiles*
