Comfort food

I helped Kim make apple cake. I'd forgotten how much fun it is cooking with another person. Yay Kim! Your joy in life is infectious. *hug* And your pumpkin soup was perfect for how I was feeling yesterday.

So I have a month to find and read a book with a colour in the title. Any suggestions?

And, spring continues its merry twisted way, causing misunderstandings, cross-purposes and general angst. Sorry to the people I've managed to upset in the last week. I hope that when the season settles you'll forgive me.

Two new students this week, both young men. Oh boy. *braces self* Funny how they seem to bond by bragging about the fights they've been in. I'll never get used to that.

Small world

Art today, the theme was "Where I'm From". The conversation with the new guy went like this:

Me: Where are you from, C?
C: Dargaville.
Me: True? You're from the Dargaville whanau? You know a Charlie S?
C: Yeah, he's my Dad.
Me: Really? I used to work with him in the freezing works!
C: Yeah, he's a boner.
Everyone else: *cracks up*

Why is it that everybody in NZ seems to know someone from Dargaville?
