The full-sensory appreciation of trees

Today I am wearing the Stripey Pants of Extreme Sexiness, and I feel good. They shall henceforth be known as the Jo Pants (what, you don't name your pants? I pity your crushed creative side).. in fact, I am a study in brown. I'm amazed that it looks as good as it does.

Also, I inspected the slumbering oak on the way out the door this morning, and it has swelling buds that are ready to Burst Forth Into Burgeoning Life at any moment. We will wake up one morning soon and there will be leaves. And, the broom and elder are suddenly and extremely in flower down in the gorge (anyone into elder flower wine? Now's your chance). I love watching the world wake up.

Last night on my walk I met a man with Airedales (yay for dogs as a way of meeting people) and he was picking up the logs from a fallen pine tree and inhaling deeply. I asked him what he was doing and he said he just loved the smell of fresh pine. So I joined him for a while, and he was right. Try it. It's awesome.
