More 'inside America' stuff from lifeofreilly

"Those who profess to favor freedom and yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing the ground." -Frederick Douglass, abolitionist, editor and orator (1817-1895)

Boston City is setting up fenced, razor-wired "Protest Zones" for the Democratic National Convention. In addition, they are making the process of application to protest even more long-winded and complicated than it already is.

They are passing these 'subtle' changes (fencing the protest area, lengthening the application process) off as 'increasing public safety' and 'streamlining coordination of city events'. Hmm, yeah, keeping the noisy objectors out of sight - how very democratic.

Luckily, good old LA has interpreted 'the right to free speech' in a more realistic way. I hope there are more LA-type thinkers than Boston ones over there.

And another quote:
"As nightfall does not come at once, neither does oppression. In both instances there is a twilight when everything remains seemingly unchanged. And it is in such twilight that we all must be most aware of change in the air - however slight - lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness."
-William O. Douglas, judge (1898-1980)

Everyone's heard about the sick-bag with B.O.B. scrawled on it that created a crisis on a plane yesterday because someone thought it might stand for 'Bomb On Board', right?

Taking guesses now as to what the B.O.B. actually -did- stand for. Suggestions so far:

Blisters on Bum
Baby on Board
Bob on Board
Bag o' Barf

Any advances?

Oh, and putting on best Nelson voice and pointing at Russell Coutts:
