Highbrow stuff

As a non-scientist, I find it amusing the size of the machines they build to accelerate sub-atomic particles.

Here is a linear one in the US that is 2 miles long.

And here is a circular one in England that is 561 metres across.

And here is a really old one from 1930 (it's a bit smaller).

Can you tell it's a slow rainy day?

For anyone who liked the picture of the guy wallrunning in civic square, I now have more shots of these guys in action in the square and Frank Kitts. I put them behind an LJ cut for those with sad dialup connections. ;-)
