11:20 am - Finally got around to photographing the Saarebas costume

More pictures and a tutorial for how I made it here. Photos by pombagira.

I'll be entering this in the cosplay contest at Armageddon Auckland this weekend. It's made from mostly leather and is the most comfortable costume I've made so far. I love having horns!

PS I'm not really that white, it's greasepaint.

You do good work. (Was about to congratulate you on your pallor indicating excellent use of sunscreen, but we'll just go with the congratulations on the costuming.)

I don't know if I am more jealous of the horns or the arm muscles!

The horns. You can get arm muscles. ;-)

I just got a new PR on my deadlift! 165 lbs. No visible arm muscles yet though after a couple of years of weight training. Clearly I am in the wrong sport xD

Yeah, building muscle is weird for women. Some of the strongest women I know have arms like sticks. I developed gigantic triceps when I was dagging sheep for a living, and I think it was because of a diet of mostly protein (OM NOM NOM MEAT), but I think maybe also there's a genetic component. Most of my family is athletically built and doing handstands has given me pauldron-ready shoulders. ;-)

My Grandma never had defined arm muscles either, not as a competitive swimmer nor as a farmer, so it might indeed be genetic!

Protein I am quite big on, as a fairly committed meat eater and lover of beans and eggs.

The thing is for women, it's really hard to get visible muscles because it's not the muscle building that's the problem, it's the body fat percentage. Women have naturally higher body fat, and for the whole visible muscles thing, you need a low body fat - essentially so our muscles aren't covered by a layer of fat, and thus you can see the muscles clearly. :)

True, true! Like the old saying that "Abs are made in the kitchen" :-)

The funny thing is that while I am not likely to sport a visible four pack anytime soon, I can't really pinch any excess when I flex my arms either. My thighs I can, but my arms are pretty much little puny t-rex arms.

I have no clue who or what Saarebas is, but that is an amazing costume. I'm really impressed by it. It's a very dramatic photo, too!
