alphamatrix dropping round and hanging out with us. We'll miss having her as a neighbour.
The guy from the tenancy management service telling us our rent expectations are realistic. Also offering to let us pick from their list of clients for someone to call as a referee. And coming across as the sort of organisation that does right by the tenants as well as the owners. All this made me feel better about the prospect of renting.
From this article: Jon Snow is a half naked sex volcano in the first Pompeii pic.
I should probably hand in my perv badge because my first thought was "How is that armour made?" And then I noticed the abs. Oh dear.
Anyway, the comments are amusing, with much speculation on the hotness of this armour choice and its seeming role reversal from the topic we were discussing in my comments yesterday, about how armour on women is often depicted based on showing sexy bits instead of practicality.
But, this dude is supposed to be a gladiator right? So he'd be fighting with a shield. And his shield arm isn't covered because a) it's protected by the shield and b) he needs maximum movement on it. So that part makes sense. I'm less convinced about the exposed torso, much as I appreciate its aesthetic. There's tender bits in there and I would expect that to be covered - but again, if you're fighting gladiator-style, maybe movement is more important than protection?
And someone in the comments points out that gladiators were entertainers, so it's possible that costumes cut to show off the body were part of it. I don't know. But I know someone who probably does. fuvenusrs? I'd love to hear your take on this. I mean, yes, PHWOAR, but how realistic is this really?
Because authenticity is important to me. Yup.
Suffice to say I'm feeling better today. I've decided to skip DNZ this year and save my money. The RoW isn't going anywhere and if my predictions about DA:I are correct, it'll still be relevant next year.
And speaking of hot bodies doing hard stuff (yes we were), tonight we are going to this: The Dust Palace presents Love and Money. Circus-oriented theatre about the everyday lives of people who get naked for money. I like the irony of paying to objectify people who are performing a piece about being paid to be objectified.
Cos I'm like that.
