Australian Chief of Army getting stern about sexism in the ranks. Makes no bones about it. Admirable.

He doesn't blink. At all. I'd love to know how he pulls that off.

Also, David Gaider is fifteen shades of awesome.

I saw this video earlier. The US Armed Forces could use a few guys like this.

Oh I know! He's got two glass eyes so he doesn't need to. He'd be awesome in Doctor Who's "Don't Blink".

What he says it a good statement though. Sounds rather unusual for any army because what I know of them they all demean their new recruits one way or another, but it sounds good.

I think being angry helps with the not blinking much.

I can totally teach you the not blinking thing. First step is learning how to stand at attention!

Atten-huh!

I would probably last about 5 minutes in the armed forces before I earned some humiliating punishment that only made me more resentful at being ordered around by someone who hadn't yet earned my respect.

Some folks just aren't cut out for service.

That's okay, I'm the world's worst recruiter. When people asked, I generally said something like, "No you really don't want to do that...hey have you considered the Coast Guard?"

That said, I know a lot of marching band folks who can do the no-blinking thing too, so military service is not at all required! Mostly it takes patience and the ability to be situationally unflappable.
