Last week was a big week for me. It involved graduating, getting the wiring part of the Brainfart up and running, achieving a 30 second free handstand, and on Saturday, doing my first ever L-sit. Only for a second, but still the first time my feet have ever come off the ground. Maybe it's because I've finally turned the corner in strength and flexibility, maybe it's the protein, I don't care. I'll take it.
And yesterday, Derpy finally realised what catnip is for.
I really love his little foot/tail combo in the corner there. He stayed like this for about an hour, then spent the rest of the evening curled up under the dining table. Yep, he's on the YAY NIP side of the fence now.
And how. So I count that as one of my achievements for the week.
Also, this weekend was the first major house clean since the cats arrived. Dr Wheel even polished the wooden furniture. O.o I have come to the conclusion that cats = dust and fluff. Boo. I even woke up in the night coughing my lungs up, only to discover that there was a fricking cat hair in the back of my throat. Now, I know that I haven't had any cats in my mouth, so I can only assume that it was either on my food or I breathed it in. Argh! It's like they deliberately ooze fur wherever they go. That pic up there? I'd vacuumed that chair a couple of hours before. Maybe that's why Derpy's face is so squished up - he's constantly straining to push out more hairs..
A question. Someone has asked for a tutorial on how to make the Brainfart. I feel a bit weird about this because it's not finished yet, it's basically just a breadboard and so far I can only make it do one thing*. But if I wait till it's finished before doing one, it'll be several thousand words and all the badly-drawn Paint circuit diagrams ever, and possibly be held up to students of social media as an example of how to alienate your readership with geek overkill.
The video I posted on Saturday is a bit of a milestone, and it's a good point to tutorialise I think, because it has start-to-finish techniques for making this configuration of LEDs, but there's no requirement that anyone else does the format that I've done. Anyway, would anyone else be interested in such a thing?
* That thing is admittedly pretty cool but it's nothing compared to the pictures in my head. I bought a quad-ruled book and made a list, and once I've worked through that, hopefully it'll be able to do multiple things. And then it might start to come close to the vision that sparked all this off.
Last night we watched Django Unchained. Other folks with more brains than me have written extensively about the problematic aspects of this movie, so I won't. It was very Tarantino - lots of gratuitous violence and blood overkill in amongst stunningly beautiful and often hilarious cinematography *ahem* the snowshoe gunfighter scene *ahem*. But mostly I just wanted to say this:
DJANGO DON'T NEED NO BRIDLE MOTHERFUCKER!
