Conversation with colleague about sibling-inflicted injuries. Here's mine.

Me and my brother, tiger hunting. I was the tiger, he had a bamboo spear. He was a better shot, and I a slower tiger, than either of us thought. One trip to the hospital, three stitches later, I still have the scar on my leg.

Yours?

My brother was 3 or 4 metres up a tree in our garden. Inexplicably he was holding a stake from the vegetable garden -- maybe 1.5 metres long, 3 inches square in cross section, very solid wood, sharpened to a point.

I was standing under the tree, saying something about how he should be careful or he might drop it. Maybe there was a fight going on.

He dropped it. Right on my head, pointy end first. Blood everywhere. He did look pretty contrite, and if there was a fight then I won automatically at that point.

No trip to the hospital. I had a very good bump for a while.

I am starting to think all brothers should be banned from carrying pointy things until they reach their teens.

until they reach their teens

That soon? I suspect 30s or 40s may be more appropriate...

When #3 son was about 3.5, #1 son taught him how to climb a tree. However he omitted the climbing down part of the lesson.

Come tea time the tribe is all present for food except #3 son. A search party located him well up a tree, singing to himself in his usual fashion, awaiting rescue by someone who knew about the climbing down bit. #1 son was dispatched to effect the retrieval...

I won't mention #4 & #5 sons and their little accident...

I was forced to share a bed with sis in our hotel room on vacation, on multiple occasions. It's like sharing a bed with a Tasmanian devil. If she wasn't shoving her feet up my arse and trying to shove me out of bed, she was flailing around, and occasionally catching me in the side of the head with an elbow. More than once she gave me a black eye. To this day, she denies ALL of it. >.>

As the eldest I don't think I got any sustaining injuries from my brothers, although I gave a few to myself while riding my bmx into things.

I have an older and younger brother and a younger sister, but I don't think any of us gave each other any scars. I don't doubt we all had our violent moments (especially little brother, who exhibited a lot more... shall we say socially unacceptable behaviour than the rest of us), but I think all of our injuries were self-inflicted. I had stitches in my forehead for jumping on the bed and landing smack in the middle of the head-board when I was around age 5, for instance.

Hmmm...my sister and I had several fights but nothing really bad ever happened.
Maybe save for the one time when she somehow stuffed my nose with paper and it started bleeding LOL.

I had a charming older sister, she was responsible for all my injuries, and a number of my other sisters ones.

One day she was driving a gokart, she aimed it directly at myself and one of my other sisters, we were facing the other way, she ran us over, I got 5 stitches in my forehead, my sister got 2 in her cheek.

Another day I was being dubbed by her on the back of her bike, my foot got stuck in the spokes, I yelled at her to stop, she kept going till my foot stopped the bike, my ankle bone was very exposed, and she rode away, making me walk home by myself.

She was a mean big sister, but now she's totally awesome :)

And my little sister has a bite mark on her arm - this time I was the one responsible, ooops (I blame my big sister of course - she taught me to be horrible every now and then)

Well, I don't recall ever managing to injure my siblings, but there was one time when I was 12-13 and my sister was 17-18 and I had finally caught up in size and then some. She played these awful mind games with me constantly and I finally just pummeled the hell out of her. Embarrassing, but still felt good.
Her two daughters sound like they get in epic fights. The older one has broken the other's finger, and cut up her face so she will need plastic surgery later on. The most mine have done is bite eachother. Zinnia bit Caspian's butt one time. Since there was so much to get a hold of, she got him really good, too. She also went through a face clawing phase, and Caspian looked like he had fallen down some stairs on his face.

Most of my sibling injuries were from trying to do what my older sisters did, rather than having them do things TO me. I was hospitalised with a concussion at ~4yo after jumping off the side of a truck (because they were) and landing on my head.

In terms of permanent marks, I have a 2 inch long scar on my shin from being cut on glass from something my middle sister broke and made me clean up.

We used to holiday up in the Hawkes Bay on the banks of the Manawatu River where it is quite easy to wade across.

#1 daughter managed to wander into the path of a ~10kg rock heaved by #3 son at the river. Got a bit concussed by it but other wise unhurt. #1 daughter shortly afterwards went to visit my Mum in Adelaide and complained of a bit of a headache, so got whisked off to the doctor for a checkup. Mum nearly went ballistic when she found out how big the rock was.

#1 daughter still has the rock in her possession some 25 years later...
