Yesterday I woke up from fear-of-abandonment dreams to the news about… - Tactical Ninja

Yesterday I woke up from fear-of-abandonment dreams to the news about the bombings in Brussels and the knowledge that last week's ones in Turkey had been almost completely ignored by the media, and people arguing on the internet about which warmonger was the best one to lead the country that does the most bombing of other countries, and it was all a bit pants.

It was also 23 degrees. Apparently New Zealand has turned into Bali. My pole class went as predicted when you're literally running with sweat - I couldn't actually stick to the pole at all and everything I tried ended up with me in an undignified heap on the floor. Except handsprings, which are the hardest thing I know how to do. Luckily they still worked because otherwise I may have just gone home in frustration.

And then there was this, which made my day. Happy is into leg pressing ladies these days, in case you didn't know.

It has been pretty warm this summer - certainly not complaining about that. But it's a bit unseasonably warm for coming into autumn.

My tomatoes are reacting strangely. We just passed the equinox which means ripening season is pretty much over, but it's so warm they are still producing tomatoes. I doubt they'll ripen, but maybe there's something I can do with green ones?

We have an entire cookbook just devoted to green (unripe) tomatoes, actually. But if you love them ripe, pull the whole plant out of the ground, roots and all, and hang it upside down somewhere and you'll get another three weeks of decreasingly awesome tomatoes off it.

Ice queen chronicles

Hah, that does look super fun. I had the same problem with acro-yoga that I did with ballroom dance... it's a lot of super up closeness, so I was willing to do that with the person I'd gone there with but not with every other person there, heh. Which makes it hard to learn, if you are picky about whose foot gets to go in your stomach, haha. But a lot of the skillset transfers between that, martial arts, and aerials. Mayhem thought it was kinda fun too.

Yeah, I have exactly the same thing. It makes sense really, given that so much of acro is about communication and trust. Luckily for me, these two are both close friends and Happy (the base) is my regular acro partner. Most people seem to understand I'm a bit weird about being touched by strangers, and there are a couple of other people I'm ok with partnering, but not many.

We started in circus acro and wound up doing acro yoga after an injury that stopped him doing overhead lifts. I've found its a good complementary sport for most other things I do, and especially pole because of the core strength it builds.

Yeah. Not that I don't sympathise with the people of Brussels, but it really does bring home how skewed our view of worthiness is.

I suppose I can't talk since I don't usually post about bombings at all. I think if I did I'd feel obligated to post them all, and I don't have the emotional energy to search the web for terrorist attacks.

Al-Queida shot up a resort in Ivory Coast recently. The images of bodies on the beautiful beach was horrific. Can't we just stop?
