So here is a picture of me actually doing a thing on the pole. This is called butterfly.

I am failing to see the butterfly-ness of it, but hey, a pole trick!

I can (kinda) see the butterfly aspect. The bright purple adds to that look. But, more importantly, as you say, "pole trick." (Insert joke about pole tricks and your looking for a new job here... of course I'd make such a low joke.)

If only it paid as well as working with my brain, I would totally choose body work over brain work. :)

I actually don't know what you do (would be interested to learn), nor what you make (not my business). As for the earning power of pole dancing, not to mention lap dancing, I think that largely depends on tips (see post about tipping). However, professional career life for pole (and lap) dancing tends to be short, much like professional athletics, so have to maximize earnings early (and save/invest wisely), unlike brain work in which earnings tends to increase with time. Most pro athletes (and exotic dancers) tend to piss away earnings as fast as they get them.

I write qualifications for the construction industry and I'm in the top tax bracket. At 45 it's unlikely I could earn anything close to what I get for quals development doing pole dancing/stripping. In fact, I know a number of much younger women who are performance artists, who supplement their income with stripping and/or exotic dancing, and they are mostly on the bones of their arse.

Better to keep it a hobby, eh? ;-)

By "on the bones of their arse" is that a NZ term for world's oldest profession (eg prostitution)? Many a professional woman (and a few men) have paid for school that way. As with athletes, few in those fields (exotic dance, stripping, hooking) make the serious money. Also as with athletes, 45 is a tad late to start going pro. Keep it as a hobby, and keep posting pix.

There is no tipping culture here. There have been various attempts to introduce it, but we have a long term history with a minimum wage that's arguably livable, and used to have pretty strong unions, so tipping has never really taken off. Strippers do get tips, but it's not known as the most lucrative of incomes.

Don't know what the average stripper makes here. Better than bagging groceries, and likely better than waiting tables, but no great amount unless she is hooking on the side. Prostitutes, as noted, like athletes, have a wide range. I believe there are estimates of their income in various countries, but few make any serious money.

I'm kind of stoked. I've been working on this stuff for months and never thought to take pictures or video to see how I'm doing. I'm doing better than I thought I was.

Although I have learned that I don't point my toes as much as I thought I did, and I pull the most hideous faces...

I agree with questionable butterfly-ness.
But, it quite an accomplishment to do that, no mater what it's called!
