Remember this? In which I attempted to persuade my university to bend the rules and give me an award for my Honours study?

It worked. They offered me enough money to cover my fees for next year.

And another option popped into my head, which may just work on a number of levels - negotiate a 4 day working week. I admit part of my freaking out is related to the prospect of doing study and work again, which has become giant in my head in the way it would subsume anything of me that's not study or work. Maybe?

Awesome news re: the money award!

Would you be negotiating a reduction in your responsibilities to 80% of the current job responsibilities, or would you be negotiating to get your current job done in a 4 day week? Either way good luck, i'm just curious.

Well done!
That might work - so long as you're not expected to do 5 days work in 4 - stick to your guns there!

Can you negotiate 4 days with time off within those days to go to lectures? If not, that time will pretty much use up your 5th day. I did 30 hours contracting/week while studying last year, which was a lot better than full time, but it pretty much took me until 3pm Friday each week to get my 30 hours done, once I'd taken time out to attend lectures and tutorials.

Yes!!

And I have negotiated for a shorter work week in the past for study purposes. Was so much less stressful!
